Based on limited published evidence, C16orf87 (renamed MHAP1) is a protein containing intrinsically disordered regions that mediates protein-protein interactions. The protein binds to HDAC2 and MIER1, forming a stable chr16 remodeling complex 1. The C-terminal region of C16orf87 facilitates interactions with the ELM2 domain of MIER1 and the C-terminal domain of HDAC2, suggesting a role in chr16 regulation and transcriptional control through multi-protein complex assembly.
