protein binding
Based on limited published evidence, GAGE5 encodes a cancer-testis antigen that functions as a tumor-associated protein. According to GO annotations, GAGE5 possesses protein binding capability. GAGE5 is expressed in various human cancers including rhabdomyosarcoma (16% of cases) 1 and is overexpressed in paclitaxel/doxorubicin-resistant cancer cell lines 2. As a cancer-testis antigen with restricted normal tissue expression (spermatogonia and placenta), GAGE5 represents a potential immunotherapy target for cancer treatment 1.
