Based on limited published evidence, H2AC17 is a clustered histone H2A variant located on chromosome 6. H2AC17 functions as a core histone protein involved in DNA packaging and chr6 organization. Recent machine learning analysis identified H2AC17 as one of four diagnostic biomarkers for acute Severe Fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) virus infection, where it showed significant correlation with immune cell function and cell cycle pathways 1. The gene's role in immune response and cell cycle regulation during viral infection warrants further investigation.
