Based on limited published evidence, OOSP3 (oocyte secreted protein family member 3) is an oocyte and ovary-enriched gene with expression patterns linked to the female reproductive system. CRISPR/Cas9 knockout studies in mice reveal that OOSP3, along with related family members OOSP1 and OOSP2, may be dispensable for female fertility; triple knockout mice exhibited decreased prolificacy but remained fertile 1. The precise molecular and physiological functions of OOSP3 in oogenesis or fertilization remain to be elucidated.
