Based on limited published evidence, TPD52L3 (hD55) is a testis-specific protein belonging to the TPD52 family characterized by a conserved coiled-coil motif. The protein localizes to the cytoplasm and functions through protein-protein interactions, binding to TPD52 family members (TPD52, TPD52L1, TPD52L2) and forming homo-oligomers via its coiled-coil domain 1. TPD52L3 is highly expressed in adult testis relative to fetal tissue, suggesting involvement in testis development and spermatogenesis 1. Like other TPD52 proteins, it may participate in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and vesicle trafficking, though direct evidence in TPD52L3 is limited.
