Based on limited published evidence, CCDC187 is a coiled-coil domain-containing protein with unclear molecular function. A sequence analysis study identified CCDC187 mRNA as containing a 100% match to a SARS-CoV-2 spike protein insert sequence, suggesting potential involvement in viral-human interactions 1. In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, CCDC187 mutations were frequently detected in both primary tumors and metastases (50-58%), though without established mechanistic role in cancer progression 2.
