Based on limited published evidence, NRN1L is a membrane-associated protein with roles in neuron projection extension. GO annotations indicate protein binding activity and localization to plasma membrane and extracellular regions. NRN1L expression is regulated by epigenetic modifications; a CpG probe (cg13782134) mapping to NRN1L showed array-wide significant associations with IgG glycosylation traits in a twin study 1. Thermal bioprinting of breast cancer cells induced NRN1L upregulation among a small set of uniquely expressed genes, suggesting stress-responsive expression 2. Further functional characterization is needed to elucidate its specific biological role.
