OR51G1 is an olfactory receptor with odorant receptor activity localized to the plasma membrane. Based on limited published evidence, a rare missense variant (rs146006146, p.R272H) in OR51G1 was identified as a candidate genetic risk factor associated with Alzheimer's disease in a whole-genome sequencing study of Japanese populations 1. However, functional characterization of this OR51G1 variant has not been reported, and its contribution to disease pathogenesis remains unclear.
