Based on limited published evidence, C8orf44-SGK3 is a readthrough transcript on chromosome 8. It has been identified in genomic studies as a region subject to copy number variation in familial Parkinson's disease patients, where copy number gains were detected 1. Transcriptomic analysis shows C8orf44-SGK3 expression is altered in Porphyromonas gingivalis-infected head and neck cancer cells, clustering with genes related to cell migration 2.
