Based on limited published evidence, KRT26 (keratin 26) is a structural protein component of the epidermis involved in cytoskeletal organization. According to GO annotations, KRT26 functions in keratin filament formation, intermediate filament organization, and epithelial cell differentiation. The protein localizes to the cytosol and extracellular exosomes, and exhibits protein binding activity. KRT26 contributes to morphogenesis of epithelial tissues and maintains the structural integrity of skin epidermis. However, no peer-reviewed literature directly characterizing KRT26's specific biological role or clinical relevance was identified in available databases.
