Based on limited published evidence, MANSC4 is a serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor involved in epithelium and epidermis development, extracellular matrix organization, and plasma membrane localization. MANSC4 was identified as a key variable associated with periodontitis-induced inflammatory response in hyperglycemic microenvironments 1. In glaucoma research, MANSC4 was identified through Mendelian randomization analysis as having a causal effect specifically for normal-tension glaucoma 2. The molecular mechanisms underlying these associations require further investigation.
