Based on limited published evidence, OR52R1 is an olfactory receptor family member located on chromosome 11 that functions as an odorant receptor localized to the plasma membrane. UniProt and GO annotations establish its role in olfactory receptor activity. 1 identified previously unreported variants in OR52R1 with notable frequency differences between Northern and Southern Italian populations, contributing to understanding of genetic structure. 2 detected OR52R1 among genes showing copy number variation differences between chicken breeds, suggesting potential selection during domestication.
