Based on limited published evidence, OR7G1 is an olfactory receptor that functions in odorant recognition and signal transduction at the plasma membrane. As a member of the olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily G, it mediates the detection of volatile organic compounds. Molecular docking studies indicate OR7G1 binds aroma-active compounds including δ-decalactone and 2-acetylpyrrole, suggesting a role in human aroma perception 1. However, functional characterization of this receptor remains largely unexplored.
