ZFP92 is a KRAB domain-containing zinc-finger transcription repressor that silences B1/Alu SINE transposable elements and modulates nearby gene transcription in a tissue-specific manner. It regulates glucose homeostasis by modulating MAFB expression in pancreatic islets and lipid metabolism through ACACB regulation in adipose tissue and muscle. Based on limited published evidence, genetic variants in ZFP92 were not associated with premature ovarian insufficiency in a cohort study 1, suggesting this gene may not significantly contribute to ovarian development disorders.
