ciliary basal bodycilium movementflagellated sperm motilityaxoneme
Based on limited published evidence, DRC10 is a component of the nexin-dynein regulatory complex (N-DRC), which maintains distal axoneme alignment and integrity while regulating microtubule sliding in motile axonemes. DRC10 localizes to the ciliary axoneme and is essential for cilium and flagellar movement, including sperm motility. Recent proteomic analysis identified DRC10 among proteins significantly associated with oxidative phosphorylation dysfunction in asthenozoospermic (infertile) spermatozoa 1, suggesting a potential role in maintaining sperm bioenergetic capacity alongside axonemal function.
