Based on limited published evidence, H2BC10 is a histone H2B variant involved in chr6 organization and nucleosome assembly. GO annotations indicate roles in DNA binding, structural organization of chr6, and innate immune responses including antibacterial and antimicrobial humoral responses. In oral squamous cell carcinoma, H2BC10 was significantly downregulated and associated with longer survival times, suggesting potential prognostic value 1. The gene was also identified as positively correlated with H2BC9 expression in head and neck cancers, where H2B family members regulate gene expression, DNA repair, and cell cycle control 2.
