Based on limited published evidence, TRAPPC14 is a specific subunit of the TRAPP II complex, a conserved vesicle tethering machinery involved in late Golgi trafficking 12. TRAPPC14 is dispensable for TRAPP II complex structural integrity but specifically mediates preciliary vesicle tethering to the mother centriole during ciliogenesis by linking TRAPP II to Rabin8 2. The protein also modulates YAP1 transcriptional activity 3. Mutations cause autosomal recessive primary microcephaly 25, suggesting critical roles in cell division and neural development.
