In gastric cancer, WTIP suppresses chemoresistance by interacting with PP2A to inhibit AKT phosphorylation 3. WTIP is essential for embryonic development and maintaining glomerular filtration barrier function, with expression restricted to podocytes during terminal differentiation 4. The protein also plays a role in cardiac hypertrophy through Wnt signaling regulation, as demonstrated by disease-associated variants causing cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and altered calcium dynamics 5.
