Based on limited published evidence, TCF24 is a putative transcription factor with DNA-binding and RNA polymerase II-specific transcriptional regulatory activity localized to the nucleus. UniProt and GO annotations indicate it functions in protein binding and developmental processes through regulation of transcription. Published findings show TCF24 was identified as a specific differentially expressed gene in placental trophoblast cells exposed to physiological concentrations of vitamin D3 metabolite 1, and a fine-mapping analysis associated a TCF24 variant (rs112859779) with intracranial aneurysm susceptibility 2, though functional mechanisms remain unclear.
